The Franck Muller Aeternitas 4, reference 8888 T QPS was launched in 2006 and is a highly complicated and luxurious wristwatch known for its outstanding technical sophistication and supreme watchmaking. It features several complications such as a flying tourbillon, two additional time zones, equation of time, 24-hour display, moonphase and a secular perpetual calendar, which to an extent considers the longterm exceptions for the leap years. Date, day of the week, month, leap year and a three-digit year are correctly displayed and need to be set every 1,000 years only. The Aeternitas name is Latin and means eternity.
Swiss mater watchmaker Pierre Michel Golay (born 1935) designed a sophisticated mechanism with two additional calendar trains for this timepiece, with the first oft he two trains with wheels for 10, 100 and 1,000 years respectively.
The design of the watch is elegant and commanding at the same time, with distinctive Franck Muller elements such as the Cintree-Curvex-case and the large bold numerals. The Aeternitas 4 was produced in a limited series only and represents the pinnacle of watchmaking, displaying the innovative power and creativity of Franck Muller, qualities that make this timepiece a highly desired collector’s item for watch enthusiasts.
