This exceptionally well-preserved deck watch has a Swiss pallet lever escapement with counterpoised "Moustache" lever.

The "Ingenieur" series was identical in construction to the J. Assmann naval deck watch with bridge movement but was aimed at the civil market. These precision timepieces were used in many research facilities and industrial businesses for exact timekeeping during scientific and industrial processes. Institutions such as the Königliches Astrophysikalisches Observatorium (Royal astrophysical observatory) and the Königliches Geodätisches Institut (Royal geodesic institute) in Potsdam possessed several of these B watches. The bridge movement used in this model is a custom-made series of ebauches produced by Swiss company LeCoultre & Cie. Which was delivered on order to J. Assmann after 1902. The ebauches received extensive finishing and fine adjustment in Glashütte, so that they certifiably adhered to the the Glashuette standard, which is still valid today.
