Audemars PiguetQuantième Perpétuel Automatique
A coveted, extremely attractive neo-vintage platinum Geneva wristwatch with perpetual calendar and moon phase
Sold
At the time of its launch in 1978 the "Quantième Perpétuel Automatique" embodied one of the most remarkable and groundbreaking designs of its time. It featured the flattest movement in the world with automatic winding mechanism for a perpetual calender. The ultra-flat 3.95 mm height was achieved by updating calibre 2120, which launched in 1967.
To the best of our knowledge a total of only 1,821 examples of reference 25657 were produced from 1982 and 1993, with yellow gold being the dominant material (1309 pieces). Only 128 pieces were produced in platinum. The most distinguishing feature of reference 25657 were the sunk auxiliary dials.
This fascinating perpetual calendar by Audemars Piguet with its indications of day/date/month and moon phase/moon age is housed in a platinum case that makes for extremely comfortable wear. The case has a 36 mm diameter and is only 8 mm high. It is powered by the legendary Audemars Piguet calibre 2120 with 38 jewels, linear lever escapement and 21 K gold rotor.
