Time, height and weather combined in one dial. Summer is coming and you are getting ready for your trip to the mountains; alpine hikes and mountaineering - with this amazing, unpolished vintage model by Favre-Leuba you will always be warned of impending storms!
The Favre Leuba Bivouac wars the first mechanical wristwatch with altimeter and barometer.
The circular scale at the edge of the dial displays the barometric pressure in mmHg (millimetre of mercury). The black bakelite bezel shows the height above sea level and comprises 10,000 m. When the revolving bezel is in home position, the height above sea level (black bezel) is displayed directly opposite the average barometric pressure at that height (barometric scale at the outer edge of the dial). When the current height is known, the average pressure can be read. If the red handpoints to a lower value, the pressure is decreasing and the weather will get worse. If pointing to a higher value, the weather will be good.
