Piaget
An exclusive and elegant necklace watch, made of 18 K gold and lapis lazuli, to be worn either as wristwatch with chain or as necklace
Sold
The oval lapis lazuli dial is embedded in a bezel in form of a cord. Two lapis lazuli cabochons are fixed above and below the case terminating at the top in a tassel made of five chains. The watch hangs on a gold chain. The total length of the ensemle is 26 cm.
This is a very elegant example of the creative design ad the skilled craftsmanship of the Piaget brand, which changed the horological world as early as in the 1960s. This type of watch was intended for a young and edgy clientele; it usually features asymmetric shapes, large bracelets and uses all types of jewels. Piaget timepieces dating from the 1960s and 19760s are today among the most sought-after and fascinating pieces of haute joaillerie.
A similar necklace watch is illustrated and described on page 132 of "Montres et Merveilles, 200 créations rares provenant du Musée de l'Horlogerie de Genève et des Collections Privées Piaget".
