With most mechanical watches the second hand moves smoothly between the seconds. The hand usually moves with every vibration of the balance, which, for a watch with 18,000 half beats per hour this is five times per second. A dead seconds function requires an extra mechanism to reduce this frequency to once per second to be displayed on the dial. The calibre was created by Chézard, a subsidiary of Ebauches SA.
This timepiece is in very good condition, with only very slight signs of age on the case. The two-colour dial with a darker outer area has a concentric guilloche pattern which brings out the gold arrowhead indexes to great effect.
