The Urban Jürgensen brand looks back on a long tradition. The Jürgensen manufactory was originally established in Copenhagen in 1773. The brand has always cultivated the art of watchmaking of the very highest quality and strives to combine technical perfection with classic elegance.
The modern brand "Urban Jürgensen Copenhagen" was taken over by Peter Baumberger in 1979 with master watchmaker Derek Pratt at the helm, while remaining committed to the original principles of technical excellence, traditional aesthetics and master craftsmanship.
This hand-crafted perpetual calendar watch reference 2 is the perfect embodiment of this combination and unites a remarkable movement with perpetual calendar based on an exquisite calibre by Frédéric Piguet with a well-balanced beauty and a hand-made solid silver dial. Different guilloche patterns create an eclectic texture and an exciting play of light, framed by a satin-finished outer rail with Roman numerals and simple minute divisions. The deep blue background of the moonphase with a yellow moon and the stars create a marvellous contrast to the monochrome dial. Windows for day of the week and date are positioned near the indexes at 9 and 3 o’clock. The hand-crafted solid gold observatory-style hands have been created on a precision lathe and polished to a high gloss. The watch is powered by a Frederic Piguet 71 top-quality ébauche, an ultra-flat automatic calibre with open barrel and 21 K gold rotor.
The watches, which were only produced in an extremely small series of only 122 pieces, were available in yellow gold and pink gold; only 50 watches were made in platinum. Connoisseurs particularly appreciate the simple and practical design of the dial on this model, on which all the functions of the perpetual calendar are beautifully and elegantly displayed.
