Patek Philippe began the production of reference 5040 in 1992; it was fitted with automatic calibre 240Q. Its unique, elegant tonneau shape is a homage to Patek’s 1920s models. The watch was available in yellow gold, platinum, white gold and some very few pink gold examples. This watch here is one of the very early ones with the much-coveted Breguet gold numerals and hands. Production was discontinued in 2007 and the model was replaced by references 5140J (2012) and 5140G (2014).
