Girard-Perregaux' "Chronographe à Rattrapante Chronomètre", reference 90170 was produced in the late 1990s in very limited numbers. When the model reached the market it sold out very fast, because it was not only very beautiful but also featured a very sophisticated technology. The movement is a historic Venus 179 calibre dating from the 1940s, which was carefully updated with a new exquisite finish by the Haute Horlogerie team at Girard-Perregaux to be delivered as a very limited reference 90170. In the early 1990s several dozen pf this calibre were found in store and auctioned; they were bought by various brands such as Ulysse Nardin, Panerai, Paul Picot und Girard Perregaux.
