Das Werk basiert auf dem Lemania Kaliber 1140/1141, das als eines der besten Chronographenwerke überhaupt angesehen wird. Zwischen 1990 und 2003 wurde der Vacheron Constantin "Les Historiques Chronograph" in einer Auflage von 1250 Exemplaren in Gelbgold, in einer Auflage von 300 Stück in Platin mit lachsfarbenem Zifferblatt, sowie einer auf 25 Stück limitierten Auflage in Platin mit schwarzem Zifferblatt für den taiwanesischen Markt hergestellt.

This Vacheron Constantin chronograph is a classic piece that is, at the same time, a modern reinterpretation of the reference 4178 in the 1940s and 1950s. The movement is fitted with the Lemania calibre 1140/1141, which is regarded as one of the best chronograph movements of all times. The Vacheron Constantin "Les Historiques chronograph" was produced from 1990 to 2003 in a limited edition of 1250 pieces in yellow gold, 300 pieces in platinum with salmon-coloured dial, and 25 pieces in platinum with black dial for the Taiwanese market.
