OmegaSpeedmaster
An extremely rare vintage wristwatch with chronograph, early "Speedmaster" model, with luminous alpha hands and still without crown guard; first version of the black bezel with dot over 90 (DON bezel) - with later original box
Sold
This early Speedmaster Modell 105.002 is a very rare reference, which was only produced for just over a year from the end of 1962 to the 2nd quarter of 1964. Originally that was an unaltered Speedmaster reference 2998-62 with a new Omega reference number complying to the new numbering system. Remarkably some Speedmaster reference 2998-62 models were also delivered while 105.002-62 was being produced, most likely because Omega had some 2998-62 cases left over. The difference between reference 105.002 and the first CK2915 Broad Arrow model are the hands. Those are now luminous alpha hand that come with a black tachy scale bearing the new marking "Tachymètre 500-60 km/h" introduced in 1962. The later models featured luminous baton hands.
This Speedmaster, reference 105.002 is in outstanding, very attractive condition. The stepped dial with lemon yellow alpha hands, luminous caramel-coloured indexes has acquired a gentle patina and features an applied metal Omega logo. The black tachy bezel with dot above "90" shows some slight signs of wear but is in excellent overall condition, as are the well looked-after case and the original bracelet, reference 7912/6 with date stamp 2/63.
