The sophisticated perfect engraving was most likely executed by Gustav Gessner of Silberberg who lived in Glashuette since 1875, formerly employed by the Eppner company. He was one of the most renowned of the engravers in Glashuette and his work was in high demand; he was also a member of the watch- and clockmaking school's board of directors and a local and city councillor. The records tell of the students at the school who proudly took their work to Gessner to have it engraved with their names. It cannot be verified whether the ornaments were made according to the design of Prof. Carl Ludwig Theodor Graff, director of the Institute of Applied Arts in Dresden (Dresdner Kunstgewerbeschule).
