This hunter watch’s former owner Hans Braun was a descendant of Wilhelm von Braun (1790-1872), who was given a peerage in the mid 19th century by Augustus, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, who von Braun’s family had a close relationship with. The family crest had three brown horse‘s heads and the motto "Edel durch Art", which meant something like "Noble through service" and referred to both the horses and the newly enobled Braun family.
