Speedmaster Professional - Alaska II Project

A rare wrist chronograph in mint condition - limited edition no. 88 of 1970 pieces "Alaska II Project", formerly developed to deal with the extreme temperatures on the dark side of the moon. This limited unique piece is offered as a full set with original tool box, spring bars, spring bar tool, two white Velcro textile straps, additional steel bracelet, outer anodized aluminium thermal shield, operating instructions, pictogram card, guarantee card, limited edition card and original certificate

This timepiece was produced in a limited series of 1970 examples in 2008; it was based on project "Alaska II", which used a "normal" Speedmaster. Dial and hands were updated and a newly developed anodised, red aluminium thermal shield was added as an outer case. This enabled the watch to withstand extreme temperatures from -148C to +260C. The famous Omega Calibre 1861 was used. It is considered a further development of the 861 calibre, which had previously been used in numerous Moonwatch models.
