This clock was invented in 1908 by the French physicist Charles Féry. Such clocks which were also used at the Paris Observatory to transmit time signals from local clocks, were widely used from 1910 onwards. It is actually a master clock that transmits impulses to slave clocks.
The Brillié company was founded in 1898 by Charles Vigreux (1861-1908) and Lucien Brillié, near Paris. Lucien Brillié was the inventor of several electrically driven clocks. The company won a gold medal at the World Fair in Paris in 1900.
