Patek Philippe launched the "Aquanaut" in 1997 and its young and modern design was considered a novelty on the market. Inspired by the Nautilus, the case is shaped like a rounded octagon. The "Tropical" strap matches the sporty look of this timepiece and is made of a composite material ultra-resistant to salt water and UV radiation. The sapphire glass back reveals the precious selfwinding movement.
The "Aquanaut Traveltime" was launched in 2011 and is the first "Aquanaut" model with an extra complication.
An additional white skeleton hand on the dial indicates the home time. Two inconspicuous pushers on the left case side facilitate the setting of local time. The day and night indications of both home and local time are displayed in two small windows. The "Aquanaut Traveltime" displays the local date by an eyecatching hand indication.
