Johannes Benner worked as a clockmaker in Augsburg from around 1620 to 1659. Most likely he was a son of Philipp Jakob Be(r)ner, who was known as a maker of sundials. A square horizontal table clock by Benner was present in the study of Peter the Great at the Peterhof Palace west of St. Petersburg.
