The repoussé outer case is signed by "C. Wemmers fecit" and shows on the back the classical mythological scene "Venus presenting arms to Aeneas". The front bezel is decorated with animal vignettes (fish, dragon, dog and bird) representing the four elements, the bezel on the back side with portrait vignettes as personifications of the four seasons.
