Paul Jean Garnier (1801-1869) was a student of Antide Janvier and still today an important watch and clock maker and owner of different patents, e.g for escapements and other watch systems. In 1825 he founded his own shop for clocks and watches, which is pursued until today. In 1916 his son Paul bequeathed his excellent watch and clock collection to the Louvre.
