The case is decorated with a band of ornamental sound holes around the edge on the back side to emphasise the beautiful sound of the strike. In the centre, you can see an elaborately designed monogram, crowned by a French count's crown.


Jacques Panier was born in Paris in 1683. He became a master watchmaker in Paris before 1701. Panier was "Maître horloger Huissier du chambellan du Roy" and worked in the Rue des Boucheries-Saint-Germain and from 1734 in the Rue de la Verrerie. He died in 1737 at the age of 54.
