The clock strikes the full and half hours by means of rack striking. Two minutes after the hour, the clock strikes the hours again. This feature is called the Morbier striking mechanism.
By pulling the string, the repetition is activated and the last struck hours are repeated again. This repetition was used at night when there was no light.
The alarm mechanism has a string winding on the top of the case.
