The double-wheel chronometer escapement model is inscribed: "Opfinden af Urban Jürgensen 1821 - denne Model udfört af hans Sönner 1841" (invented by Urban Jürgensen 1821 - this model executed by his sons 1841).
A characteristic feature of Jürgensen's double-wheel chronometer escapement is the double escapement wheel, a rest and drive wheel on a common pinion shaft. With this design, he wanted to make it easier for the oscillating system to trigger the gear train and to increase the energy supply from the escape wheel to the oscillating system. For this reason, he gave the rest wheel a large diameter and the drive wheel a small diameter.
Two nearly identical escapement models are illustrated and described in "The Jürgensen Dynasty" by John M. R. Knudsen, Copenhagen 2013, page 181.
