The timelessly elegant case is made of matt stainless steel with a polished screw-on bezel. The dial features blued sword hands, Roman hours and the characteristic secret signature of Cartier on the right hand stroke of the "X".

Louis Cartier created the "Santos" model in 1904 for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, the famous aviator; Santos wanted a timepiece he could wear on his wrist when in the air, so he did not have to use his pocket watch.
