Patek PhilippeCinese
A very fine, elegant vintage Geneva wristwatch with auxiliary seconds, sold on April 9th, 1957 - with Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Sold
Patek Philippe's reference 2531 was launched in 1952 and was in production until 1957. It was available in yellow and pink gold and was produced in a total edition of only about 200 pieces. It is called "Cinese" by Italian collectors because of its unconventional rectangular case design. The dial was made by Stern Frères and has applied indexes and hands in yellow gold. The timepiece is powered by the manual winding calibre 9'''90, one of the best form movements of the time.
The overall condition of the present watch is outstanding. The silvered dial with its golden accents is gently patinated. The black enamelled "Patek Philippe Genève" lettering is still clearly raised. The symmetrical cone of the outer "Perlé" minute track is also clearly visible. It is estimated that only 25 examples of this reference have been offered on the market in recent years, making it a truly rare find.
