This charismatic sports chronograph in a steel case comes from first hand and has never been offered at auction before. It is in very good original condition and has a stylishly elegant, charmingly aged, partially edge reprinted, two-tone silvered dial without any luminous material. The outer date ring has blue Arabic numerals and is slightly darker in color than the main portion of the dial. Between 11 and 1 o'clock the day of the week and the month in English are displayed in two small windows. The hands are original and were coloured red at the customer's request. Due to his advanced age, the first owner could no longer recognise the original blued hands and therefore had them dyed bright red, which gives the timepiece a new beautiful overall aesthetic and appeal - overall a breathtakingly beautiful example of a Dato-Compax "Killy" full of charisma and balanced proportions.
There are alltogether four different references of the Rolex Dato-Compax fitted inside an Oyster case: 4767, 5036, 6036 and 6236. The Dato-Compax is the only Rolex model to feature a triple calendar and a chronograph function.
Reference 6036 is the third version and was named after French Olympic skiing champion and Rolex fan Jean-Claude Killy, who is said to have worn the iconic Dato Compax.

Reference 6036 was produced in very few examples from the mid 1940s to the early 1960s in 18 K yellow or rose gold and in stainless steel, including only about 140 examples in rose gold.
