This Omega Speedmaster in an flawless steel case is an extremely spectacular example of Omega's legendary top model due to its royal origins. The case back is engraved with the coveted "Khanjar" daggers, the national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman. The Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said (1940-2020), who was himself an avid watch collector, commissioned various Swiss watch companies to engrave timepieces with his coat of arms as personal gifts for special services to loyal servants and foreign dignitaries. Watches with this emblem are highly sought after and are rarely offered on the market.
Experts believe that only ten watches were made for Oman in 1993. After extensive research, no more than three examples are known to exist in collectors' circles.
As the extract from the Omega archives confirms, the watch was delivered to Oman in 1993. The watch with the reference ST 345.0022 is equipped with the hand-wound calibre 861, which was introduced after the successful Apollo XI moon landing in 1969.
This timepiece is an important and extremely rare model of the Speedmaster Professional that will not only make the heart of every Omega lover beat faster.
