Charles Edward Viner was granted the "Patentee" for the position of the alarm hand via the coaxial, rotating crown in the upper part of the pendant.
Charles Edward Viner (1788-1875) apprenticed with Thomas Savage in London. He became a member of the Clockmaker's Company in 1813 and was known for his top quality pocket watches, which he usually fitted with a pump winding mechanism he had invented.
