At first glance, this pocket watch seems to have been created by Abraham-Louis Breguet: the shape of the case with the engine-turned case band, the dome with the French inscription, the unusual pull-and-turn pusher for the repeater in the pendant, the clear dial with the Breguet numerals and hands, and the movement construction with the temperature compensation and the "Parachute" shock protection - without a doubt an excellent imitation of Breguet's pocket watches.

According to the records of Brian Loomes' "Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World" and Jürgen Abeler's "Meister der Uhrmacherkunst" C. L. Baumgärtel was active in Leipzig, Germany, during the mid 19th century.
