A charismatic vintage wristwatch with day and date indication for the French market

The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date was launched in 1956, the first wristwatch to show the date and the day of the week in full in a window on the dial. The first models were available either in 18 K gold or in platinum. Rolex created the president bracelet specially for the Day-Date at the time.
Rolex experimented with a variety of different materials for the Day-Date dials - the watch we have here is fitted with an elegant greenish gold dial and, in combination with the pink gold case, constitutes a marvellous example of that impeccable elegance Rolex was aiming for in their attempt to create a watch of perfect beauty. This exclusive model is still the Rolex of choice for the wealthy and influential watch lover.
This dial is nicknamed the "Door Stop" characterised by the tapered and more bulky profile of the two indexes at 6 and 9, which resemble a doorstop.
