Doxa
An attractive vintage anti-magnetic wrist chronograph in practically new condition, with tachy and telemeter scale
The brand name Doxa is usually related to the diver’s watches with the distinctive orange-coloured dial, but even in the 1950s Doxa, first established by Georges Ducommun in 1889 in the Swiss Jura, was known for many other magnificent creations such as this wrist chronograph. It is fitted with the renowned Valjoux 23 movement which was also used by other important brands such as Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Rolex and Vacheron Constantin. Production lasted for nearly sixty years, and by 1974 a good 125,000 ebauches of this type had been built.
The shimmering silver-coloured dial possesses a classic layout with two subsidiary dials, a blue tachy and a red telemeter scale, positioned near the edge.
The overall condition is excellent with a nearly perfect steel case and finely bevelled lugs. The original dial is also immaculate. The chronograph movement is exceptionally well preserved and works as intended.
