RolexPrecision
An extremely rare, oversized, unusual wristwatch with indirect centre seconds and auxiliary seconds. To the best of our knowledge, only about 3 examples of this execution are known to exist on the market
Sold
Normally, reference 8092 is distinguished by its oversized 37-millimetre stainless steel case for the early 1950s. Large cases were rather unusual for luxury brands in the post-war period. The majority of cases had a diameter of 33 to 35 millimetres and were mostly made of gold. But what is truly spectacular about this timepiece is the simultaneous presence of a central second hand and an auxiliary seconds hand.
Such a contradictory mechanism is also found in another Rolex, a semi-bubbleback reference 5028, and in an Omega wristwatch chronometer from the 1940s, illustrated in the book "Wristwatches, History of a Century's Development" by Helmut Kahlert, Richard Mühe and Gisbert L. Brunner, 2005, page 395. These are probably experimental timepieces that never made it into the market.
The condition of this rare Rolex Precision is equally exceptional. The case shows signs of wear due to age, but is unpolished. The caseback clearly shows the engraving of the Rolex crown and serial number. Furthermore, the dial is sensationally well preserved - only the contemporary alpha hands show traces of patina.
