Because of its outstanding quality, beauty and value, Vacheron & Constantin's reference 4072 is one of the most highly coveted chronograph models. It was produced from 1938 to the late 1960s and available in yellow and pink gold, steel and steel/gold. The chronograph pushbuttons came in two variations; they were either oval or - more commonly and more modern - rectangular. Three different chronograph calibres were used: Calibres 295, 434 and 492; only 214 examples in yellow gold with the Vacheron chronograph caliber 492 were produced.
This wrist chronograph dates from 1952 and is in near flawless condition. The long, bulky lugs and narrow, bevelled bezel make the case look larger on the wrist. The dial, which shimmers in a warm shade of delicate silver, is equipped with indexes and baton-shaped hands in yellow gold and blued chronograph hands to match the case - the design is elegant and timeless.
