Patek Philippe
An extremely fine and rare vintage Geneva wristwatch with fluted lugs and Patek Philippe extract from the archives
Sold
As can be seen from the extract from the archives, this rare timepiece was made in 1944 and sold a year later. The beautiful Milanaise bracelet by Gay Frères was added later, probably in 1952, as can be seen from the date stamp on the clasp. The watch is distinguished by its generous rectangular case with beautifully shaped, large twin lugs and a thick, flat crystal; it is one of the few Patek Philippe wristwatches with a rectangular-shaped movement. As far as we know, only about 200 examples of this reference were produced. The almost flawless dial by Stern Frères has a wonderfully refreshing light hue and applied rose gold dot indexes and Arabic numerals; the Patek Philippe lettering and dash indices of the small seconds still raised. The case is by Georges Croisier, recognisable by the key hallmark with the inscribed number 5 on the case back.
