For Zenith, accuracy always had top priority. Right from their first day - when the company was established by Georges Favre-Jacot in 1865 - greatest value was put on the réglage of the ébauches; this has forever been the company’s philosophy, from the days of the legendary wrist chronometers to the development of the famous "El Primero" with automatic winding.
During the early 20th century, the Zenith timekeepers usually came top in the chronometer tests and have so far collected over 1,500 awards and prizes for outstanding quality and precision.
One from the range of highly accomplished timepieces is this chronometer, which is wound by turning the bezel. The large chronometer balance and the particularly fine réglage as well as the overall design bear witness to the high standards of the manufacturers.
The "New Rotterdam Instrument Factory Observator N. V." was founded in 1924 and specialized in the production and supply of measuring instruments for nautical needs. Today, the Observator Group is a worldwide operating group for measuring instruments and sensors not only for nautical use, but also e.g. for environmental measurements.
