This coach watch is surprisingly heavy - the outer case alone weighs 362 g! Equally large is the pendant of the watch, whereas the movement is rather delicate in comparison (42 mm). Thus, the entire ensemble weighs just under 1 kilogram.
In our 95th auction we had an almost identical coach watch, but with a painted dial in a wooden box.


Ryley and Son were based in Hill Street Coventry and operated, according to Brian Loomes, from 1833 to 1868.
