In the 1950s, the Hanhart company in the Black Forest developed into Eurpean market leader for stop watches. They were particularly famous for their design of two identical or even different instruments placed together in a grey metal case which could be started simultaneously or individually by the large pusher; these were mainly used in racing. The various models had names such as SHORT-STOP or TRI-STOP – this version is a combination of a high quality chronograph with a stop watch that is called ADDI-STOP. The use at sports events was only half the story though – at the time, Hanhart advertised this timepiece as: "To be used in industry, by rallye drivers, for military purposes and in sports events – can record a continuous event of any length [...] offering the possibility to keep watch on two more parallel events with the help of the chronograph movement [...] and an independent stop watch.
Even though the instrument has been used regularly and in tough conditions, case and clocks are exceptionally well preserved.
