After graduating from the renowned Pratt Institute in 1939, Richard Arbib began his career as a designer in the car industry and his first major projects included the design of commercial vehicles such as ambulances, limousines and hearses for the Henney Motor Co. One of Henney’s most important clients was the luxury brand Packard - Henney was their exclusive supplier of car bodies. Richard Arbib first gained fame for his design of the Packard "Pan American", which was presented at the 1952 International Motor Sports Show in New York. The Pan American’s first prize in the "Outstanding" Design category was the start of a legend.
