Tudor, Genève, Swiss, "Oyster-Prince 200m=660ft Submariner", Case No. 572157, Ref. 7928, Cal. 390, 39 mm, circa 1966
A divers's rare vintage automatic wristwatch
Case: Rolex, steel, screw back ref. 7928 VI/66, bidirectional rotating bezel, screwed Rolex "Triplock" winding crown, later "Oyster" fliplock bracelet ref. 93150 with diver's extension link, endlinks stamped 593, clasp G, bracelet length 150 mm, total length 190 mm. Dial: original black service dial with nice patina, luminous Mercedes hands (re-lumed).
Tudor launched their first diver’s watch in 1954 – the Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7922. Its successor - model 7924, introduced in 1958 – extended the maximum diving depth to 200 m. The last version of reference 7928 with a round crown protector came out in the mid 1960s and firmly established the fundamental design and the functions of the Tudor submariner series on the market.
This "Tudor Oyster-Prince" model features an attractive deep black dial with gently aged, cream-coloured luminous indexes and Mercedes hands. The bidirectional bezel has a gracefully faded inlay – its beauty and the breathtaking "vintage Rolex look" make this watch a much sought-after collector’s piece.
