Jean Dunand / Christophe Claret, Genève, Swiss, "Piece Unique Tourbillon Orbital", Ref. IO 1942, Cal. IO200 by Christophe Claret, 46 mm, circa 2010
A unique wristwatch in mint condition, with flying one-minute tourbillon on a revolving dial, reverse moon phase and agate dial - with original box, operating instructions, gloves, cleaning cloth, loup and setting pin
Case: 18k gold, two apertures in the caseband to display the movement and the power reserve indication, screwed on engine-turned back with winding crown, moon phase display and correction button for the moon phases, 18k gold deployant clasp. Dial: brown marbled agate and engine-turned onyx, aperture for tourbillon.
The Jean Dunand Tourbillon Orbital is a wristwatch of original design and construction in which the entire movement rotates, carrying in orbit a one-minute flying tourbillon on a revolving dial.
The patented calibre IO200 presents two features new to watchmaking: a power-reserve gauge shown through an aperture in the caseband, and the winding and setting system through the central axis of the rotating movement. Additionally, the phases of the moon are displayed on the back of the watch.
The watch bears the name of the Swiss artist Jean Dunand (1877-1942), who was influential in the Art Deco movement in Paris. The name designates original complicated watches of advanced design built in the Christophe Claret workshops in Le Locle, Switzerland.
