International Watch Co., Schaffhausen "Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante", Case No. 2690864, Ref. 3712, Cal. 76240, 41 mm, circa 1999
A large platinum wristwatch in near mint condition, with split seconds chronograph - limited platinum edition no. 134 of 250 pieces - with original box, operating instructions, booklets and blank guarantee card
Case: platinum, screwed on back, IWC platinum buckle. Dial: silvered.
The Portuguese Chronograph Rattrapante reference 3712 was first launched in 1995; it is fitted with the rattrapante mechanism as invented by Richard Habring and retains the typical design of the "Portuguese family". The Chronograph Rattrapante is distinguished by a third push-button for starting and stopping the split-seconds hand. Beyond the capabilities of a pure chronograph, this also enables a second short period of time to be measured with down-to-the-second accuracy.
