Julien Senard à Paris, Height 190 mm, circa 1750
An important miniature "Capucine pendule" with alarm - one month power reserve
Case: brass, polished, oblong case, the angles with baluster finials, disc feet, top part with 1 hammer / 1 bell surmounted by a baluster, iron wall hooks. Dial: applied silvered chapter ring with inlaid radial Roman hours, gilt centre with engraved signature, central alarm disc with radial Arabic numerals, finely cut hands. Movm.: rectangular brass full plate movement of high quality with alarm and weight drive via rope drum, verge escapement with spindle wheel on top and short pendulum, finely executed train with 6 axes.
French maker Julien Senard lived in the Rue St. Barthélémy in Paris. He was married in second marriage to the widow of Jean Chedereau. In 1754 he became a master in the same year in which he died at the age of 34. His uncle was the famous watchmaker Julien Le Roy (1686-1759).
