Frédérique Constant, Genève, Case No. 02, Ref. FC980MC4H8, 42 mm, circa 2010
An automatic wristwatch with tourbillon with Silicium escapement wheel and day / night indicator - limited edition no. 02 of 88 pieces made in 18k white gold - with original box, original certificates and brochure
Case: 18k white gold, screwed on glazed back, original 18k white gold buckle. Dial: silver, engine-turned centre, window for tourbillon cage with limited edition serial number.
Frédérique Constant developed its tourbillon fully in-house with a number of unique features:
A Silicium escapement wheel, smart weight balancing, fast oscillation at 28,800 BpH and a individually numbered tourbillon cage.
With its three main advantages compared to a regular escapement wheel, a Silicium escapement wheel is particularly useful in a tourbillon mechanism. In particular, the reduced weight of the Silicium escapement wheel and the better friction properties result in a substantially higher energy efficiency. As a result, Frédérique Constant tourbillon has an amplitude of over 300 degrees in dial-up and dial-down positions. Even in the crown-down position, it is over 275 degrees, which is substantially better than the performance of other high-end tourbillons.
