A collection of 29 vintage wristwatches
Universal Genève "Tri-Compax", Movement No. 214152, Case No. 1036411, Ref. 22541, Cal. 287, 37 mm, circa 1944
An astronomic Geneva vintage wristwatch with chronograph, tachy scale, moon phase and full calendar
Case: steel, push back. Dial: silvered.
There is no doubt that the Tri-Compax is the most iconic watch the company Universal Genève ever produced; the model was first introduced in 1944.
The steel case is fitted with rectangular chronograph pushers and three correctors on the left for setting the day of the week, the month, the date and the moon phase. The cream-coloured dial has acquired a charmingly aged patina that provides a gentle background for the luminous Arabic numerals and the blued lozenge hands. This intricate watch has a 30-minute counter at 3, a 12 hour counter at 6 and a small auxiliary dial for the small second at 9. At 12, a small window shows the moon phase with the date. Below are windows on the left and right for day and month in English writing. The outer tachymeter scale completes the beauty of this beautiful wristwatch chronograph.
