Case: brass, firegilt, pierced. Dial: silvered chapter ring on engraved gilt-brass plate. Movm.: full plate movement, signed, gilt, gut/fusee for going train, 2 florally engraved barrels for striking- and alarm train, 2 hammers, rear bell, two-arm steel balance without balance spring, fine florally engraved, pierced balance cock with mascaron.
Estienne (Etienne) Hubert (1634 - about 1720) was a renowned clockmaker in Rouen from 1655 until 1720; he became a Master in 1656. The British Museum, the Guildhall Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum all own clocks created by Hubert.
